POLICY POINTS

Makayla Venable is running to replace Delegate Ellen Campbell because she believes we need representation in Richmond that is more connected to our local communities. Makayla understands the struggles of working families because she has lived them and she is ready to take that fight to Richmond to ensure the Shenandoah Valley has a voice that cannot be ignored. Makayla will fight to insure the following:
Worker’s Rights that include a $15 minimum wage, repeal of state right-to-work
laws, and expanded worker protections.
Health Care Rights for all that include affordable care, crisis management centers,
and protection for Medicare and Medicaid recipients.
Housing Rights for our community that include affordable housing, increased local
programs that combat homelessness, and help for responsible landlords who provide
housing options.
Students’ Rights that include fully funded schools, with monies to invest in good
teaching practices that insure success for all students.
Women’s Reproductive Rights that include protecting a woman’s personal
autonomy in her own healthcare, the right to choose, and access to sex education and
contraceptive care.
Community Rights that include illuminated side and back roads for nighttime safety,
expansion of I-81, improved broadband accessibility for all, and successful completion
of prioritized infrastructure projects.
Farmer’s Rights that include re-instating federal cuts to grants and programs,
increased farm-to- school funding to fill the USDA cuts, and continued support for
farmers in all their vital work.
